We're going with kids this time, so not likely to be spending much time in the casinos - we're only there 4 days and have tickets for cirque du soleil and the lion king. But we are bringing the in-laws, so have babysitters in case we want to go to the casino's, which we probably will one night. Normally set a $50 limit each (woohoo - last of the big gamblers!) and play roulette and blackjack till we lose it then leave. Sometimes it can be a surprisingly long time...and sometimes we come out ahead. We hit $20 single number 17 twice in one visit a to Harrahs in New Orleans a couple of years ago, but thats the only time we've paid for our trip and had change left over... normally its breakeven or slightly up - apart from on Cruiseships when we consistently lose...quickly!

Does anyone know if theres an age limit on that roller coaster on top of the skyscraper, and the moonshot one too....? My 9 year old wants to do them and I'm kinda hoping theres a 12 year minimum

I think you are referring to the Stratosphere tower, last time I was on that thing there was a height requirement to meet , I do not think it was based on age.... The Big Shot ride is one heck of an experience especially at night. the Roller coaster is a bit Meh, although the view it provides is incredible.
here is a link if you care to do further research, have a fun time.

What can you guys tell me about Red Rock Canyon - how long can you spend there, driving around (my 82 year old mom will be with me so no great hikes!)? And how long does it take to get there? I have a free afternoon on Friday and would rather have a suggestion in place, otherwise GF will drag me to the factory outlets!

Also - is 'Valley of Fire' a specific place, or just a general reference to the Vegas area?

Not sure about those rides, but I took my niece to Vegas years ago when she was very young. She wanted to go on the ride built into New York New York; I was not keen but how could I turn down a young niece ..? So I went on it - man, it was scary! She loved it !

Just take W. Charleston Dr all the way to Red Rock Canyon Rd, cant miss it. about a 15-20 minute drive from the center of town if the traffic is not too bad.
they have a visitors center 'Bonnie springs Ranch ' peacocks strutting around and other animals abound, food & drink available there as well.

Lots of scenic drives, look out for the wild burros Area 51 is also a cool place to explore if you are into that kind of thing. Great place to take Mum would be the 'Ethel M ' chocolate tour, or take a 60 minute drive to Pahrump and visit the Pahrump valley winery, great food and of course wine Try the 'Symphony ', wonderful and delicate flavor.

Yeah, thats the problem ...and then my wife turns off the sexism radar and hits me with the "thats a guy thing" and next thing I know I'm getting strapped into the car while trying to work out which would be more embarrassing to do on a public ride - throw up or wet myself!

I just clicked that link that Oregon posted (thanks) and quickly realized that anything that has a despcription involving "1081' above the ground", "4g on the way up" and "new" isn't likely to make it onto our tour agenda!! Old, solid, reliable, ground level works for me! Wonder if they have bumper cars anywhere......

The Crown & Anchor was the only place in Vegas showing Rotherham United in the Play Off final earlier this year. A good place, you can tell it has been round a while. And the crowd wasn't so young when I was there!

Hi Emma

I'm here in Vegas too - been here about a year now. If there is anything I might be able to help you with, let me know.

I discovered a new English pub down in Henderson the other week. It's called Shakespeare's and is on Eastern and Coronado Center. Fairly decent, though I think it's part of a chain.
