Close, feel like I'm not too far away from that sometimes
Long story but the condensed version is that I do everything ass backwards in my life.
I was in a very well paying job, we had a kid, then another on the strength of my job I 'would never lose'
We were trying to buy a house in 2002/2003, the LA market was red hot and I couldn't get one as realtors were too busy buying and flipping them for themselves. Gave up after 6 offers over the asking price, then I lost my job and found out we were having a second son as planned a month later.
Combination of poor planning, bad timing and bad luck, that's life.

I have another one, was pissed at the time as I was totally not expecting it.
You think you finally have all your ducks in a row and then someone pulls the rug from under you, that's life. Back on course now though, and in some ways it's better as I have a lot more freedom in the new job, which is nice with 2 young boys.

Seriously...it's good that you have more time to spend with your sons. My husband was away a lot when our daughter was growing up... nothing can compensate for that.

Yeah, I hate the way they can do that over here. Just a tap on the shoulder on Friday afternoon and next thing your putting your stuff in a box and being escorted out of the building. I have been lucky that it has not happened to me, yet, but have seen it happen to many people since being here, good people who have done good work with many years service. Sad.

Never heard of them, not that that means anything. There's literally thousands of restaurants in LA. I used to like sitting at the Sidewalk Cafe in Venice watching the circus freaks go by, usually involved more drinking than eating.

It's going to be hot this weekend and it's a nice place to sit outside, watch the boats going up and down the Marina and drink champers with shrimp, carvery and an eclectic menu. Make sure you make a reservation and get there early.

See my post in the "Santa Monica" thread. LA/Hollywood is WEIRD.
