If I was thinking of emigrating in the future what kind of jobs/careers are needed and will help me emigrate should I still want to in a few years? Ive heard the Police Force is a good idea and that plumbers etc are needed, but thats just hearsay

Police and plumber? Somebodies yanking your crank there. Nuclear Physicist, world renowned athlete, managing director of a large multinational company, that kind of thing should hold there desirability for a good number of years.

Where do you want to emigrate to? The US? If so, then forget becoming a policeman or plumber as neither will get you into the US. You would need to aim much higher than that (not that plumbers/policeman aren't 'high' but I mean more academic etc).

To get to the US you will need a degree, several years work experience and to be fairly high up in your field and with specialist skills to get a H1B. The only other option for a work visa is to work for a company with US offices and then try and transfer after working there on a L1A or L1B - but again, they need to prove that they need you so you'd need to be well thought of in the company and not just a minor employee.

Canada, however, is fairly easy to get into if you are a plumber or policeman. And other countries such as NZ or Oz may well be too but I'm afraid I know nothing about the immigration requirements for them.

Best of luck!

wiki...up top, read it for the ways in.....at the end of the day, you want a career you'll be interested in, not some crappy grind to get you a visa...

marry a local bint would probably be your best bet though.

Police won't help, you'll need a greencard at the least, but most likely citizenship already, and plumbers whilst needed won't be able to get a visa, there isn't a skills point system in the US.

You're right that the police is a good idea... Are you, by chance, a US citizen?

As for the plumber... do you have any experience as a plumber? The USA isn't a trade school! (well, maybe out west)

Look in the Wiki regarding the circumstances under which you can get into the US and the associated visas.

As we know nothing about your situation, my advise is "marry a yank!"

It doesn't matter so much about the jobs or careers that are in demand as your skills, qualifications and experience in them.
