Default Job search process for accountants with E3 visa

Hi,

I am a Chartered Accountant looking to move to New York in October. From my research, I understand that the E3 visa (available to Australians) is relatively straightforward to get. My main concern is on the job search side of things. Can anyone share their experience dealing with recruiters and employers? Although it's known to be simple, are they put off by the added hassle of dealing with an E3 visa applicant?
My plan is to move to New York and look for work when I am there. I would like to go for the visa interview in Canada (Toronto or Vancouver). Has anyone else done the same? If so, can you please advise what the average turnaround is from getting the job to visa approval?
Thank you 

Yvonne

Welcome to BE. This thread might have some info for you:

But note that you can't "move" to NY without a visa.

Yes - but only after you have a job offer and the company is willing to sponsor you for a visa. You can't apply for a visa on your own.

With respect - your main concern should be getting a visa and, respectfully, right now you have nothing to offer.

Sorry - but it doesn't work that way. You must have the visa first... and that means finding a job with a company willing to sponsor you. Getting a job, by the way, is relatively easy... the difficult part will be getting them to sponsor you!
