Who worked in Melbourne? Christine Applegate?

In that case you may well be good to go. Its still an H1-B though, at least initially.

Your new employer can pay extra to fast track the H1B application and have decision in 30 days providing the H1B allocation has not already been used for this year. Needs to get an immagration lawyer on the case quick. Ps York PA seems to be quite a nice place when I travelled through. That area of PA is steeped in history from the civil war era. You will love it.

Thats the UK... it more depends on how many are in the USA that know how to do the procedure on whether you will be successful in a visa application or not.
And no, that doesnt qaulify you for a GC. There are only very limited ways you can get a GC straight off, and outside of marrying a USC or winning the diversity lottery, being as doctor or nurse or one or two other extremely unlikely ways thats it. As an engineer your prospective employee can apply for an H1-B, non-immigrant visa. This can potentially be adjusted to GC after a number of years.

Also, it doesn't depend on how many are in the US who can already do the job. To start the GC process the employer only has to demonstrate to the Dept of Labor that....
there are insufficient qualified U.S. workers available and willing to perform the work at wages that meet or exceed the prevailing wage paid for the occupation in the area of intended employment.
Course, they don't even have to do that for the H1-B

I'm going along with my friend to check out one of their shops on Friday...I guess it's just like an Ann Summers shop.
I sort of half thought about having an Ann Summers type party myself for the desperate housewives but since it seems that many Americans are prudish it might be a total flop....

The reality is it takes too long to do it this way, so most bring people over on the H1b, then change to GC once here. Not many employers willing to wait a year or more for someone to get the GC before starting work.

Which means that if there were 1000's of USC's or PR's already here that can do the job then the sponsorship would be less likely to succeed
