israel/us relationship
does anyone think that the above named relationship ia a little wierd?
i have friends and family of all colors(u) and religionsand i take people on their own merits....but i have a hard time understanding this deal,
some points
1 the US gives aprrox $15 mill a day in aid to israel
2 politicians pander the jewish vote < 2% (black/hispanic vote dwarfs this)
3 if you question anything you are anti semetic
i could go on........anyone want to expand on this

I skimmed through some of that thread, garfro. It's difficult for us UK/US couples you know. We tread a fine line! I understand your feelings.
Re this thread and US/Israel : Perhaps the US has to keep Israel sweet in order to have at least one friend and base in the Middle East in case of a major outbreak of "unpleasantness" there - as is looking more and more likely as the months and years go by.

Actually, Im very glad that both my wife and me are Brit (not because I dislike Americans) because it really makes it easier to come to agreements about what and why we are living somewhere.

I often feel like I'm treading on eggshells when we discuss news items and opinions. The husband's face will cloud over, and I'll know I've gone too far! And yet he's not one of the VERY patriotic types at all. It's just something embedded in their psyche (or something!)
