IRS Efficiency/Speed
Filed our taxes (via accountant) electronically last Friday (exactly 1 week ago).
Got both state & Fed refunds in the bank account today - 7 days later!!
I hope many others are seeing equally speedy responses.
Could it be that looming sequester etc is motivating people at these agencies to just approve 'normal' looking tax returns & refunds quicker (our tax situation is pretty simple)... or did we just get lucky?

Re: IRS Efficiency/Speed
Last year, our state refund was really quick, fed took for ever because they needed another copy of something, that we had already sent in.
Been a couple of weeks and nothing this year. The thing that held it up for us was waiting on the letter of medical insurance cover, this is a MA thing, but we wanted to file both at the same time. That and it took forever for the state to issue state return forms this year.

Wow! I heard sequestration was going to hold everything up.

That's not selfish. A lot of people have a stake in what could potentially happen. This is not the time for this country to take another blow to the economy, imo.

I filed as soon as I got my W-2 and had the money in the bank by the 4th of February so it was pretty quick for me this year too.

We had to mail ours in. It's been 3 weeks and still not showing anything on the refund tracker. Rubbish I tell you.

Crap. I haven't filed yet, and now it occurs to me they won't be in any hurry to issue any refunds. The refund department will no doubt be on furlow from next week.
