Default Irish passport photos in the US?

Two questions:

(1) Has anyone successfully used regular US passport photos to obtain an Irish passport? I know the sizes are slightly different but I'm just curious if anyone has been able to do this (I know people who have done it for British passports).

(2) Has anyone obtained acceptable Irish passport photos in Washington DC or in its Maryland suburbs and, if so, where?

Thanks in advance.

Aren't the Irish passports the same size as the British ones? (EU size). If so, I renewed my British passport about 15 months ago and had my photos done at Walgreens. I have a British passport (born in N Ireland) but my sister choose to get an Irish passport. I didn't look too closely at hers, but I thought they were the same size.

I had mine done at a specialist place that did all sorts of passport nationalities. I've now let my Irish passport expire, as I felt the British and American were enough to keep up with. If you get stuck, call around actual photographer studios. I had British passport ones done at Walgreens maybe four years ago. The Irish ones were done around 2001.

Nope. There isn't a universal EU standard. Ireland's passport photo requirements differ from the UK's which in turn differs from Spain's etc.

Yes, I'm trying to avoid a specialist photographer as they are usually expensive and Ireland requires 4 passport photos. I used to use a local specialist photographer whose prices were very reasonable and who guaranteed that his photos would be accepted. However, he recently closed up shop and left the area.

Walgreens can do just about any passport photos. The settings are on their in-store machines. The trouble is that many Walgreens staff know nothing about it!

I have an Irish passport. I simply went to CVS who cut them to size. Remember to submit black and white photos.

OK thanks, I'll try CVS. They will actually accept color photos but they appear as black and white on the passports.
