Irish passport application through Washington DC
Has anyone applied for an Irish passport through the Irish Embassy in Washington DC recently? I know they check the applications there and then forward to Dublin for processing. Interested in how long it's currently taking to receive a passport via this route.

First time applications are taking several months thanks to the Brexit surge according to the Dublin passport office when I spoke to them a few weeks ago. I don’t know if that also applies to renewals.

If it's a renewal of a passport that hasn't expired more than five years then the renewal can be done online.

Right but this one is a first-time application so it required that a paper application be sent to the Irish Embassy in Washington DC. I've since heard that it's currently taking 3+ months for first-time applications from outside Ireland/UK.
