Irish passport application through Washington DC

Has anyone applied for an Irish passport through the Irish Embassy in Washington DC recently? I know they check the applications there and then forward to Dublin for processing. Interested in how long it's currently taking to receive a passport via this route.

First time applications are taking several months thanks to the Brexit surge according to the Dublin passport office when I spoke to them a few weeks ago. I don’t know if that also applies to renewals.

If it's a renewal of a passport that hasn't expired more than five years then the renewal can be done online.

Right but this one is a first-time application so it required that a paper application be sent to the Irish Embassy in Washington DC. I've since heard that it's currently taking 3+ months for first-time applications from outside Ireland/UK.

As we all know all too well on this forum the wheels of government bureaucracy turn at their own, usually slow, speed and there is nothing we can do about it except submit the correct paperwork and then hurry up and wait. I hope they accelerate for you :fingerscrossed:

My sister, who is in the UK just received hers and it took just over three months. I'm next!

Same for my brother who lives in London. He applied first-time through the Cork office and it took 3 months. I suspect a first-time application via Washington DC (which then goes to Dublin) is going to take at least 3 months and probably a bit more.
