Internet access experiences with....
Hi,
My apologies for probably starting the umpteenth thread about this, but the forum search function keeps locking up my computer. I was wondering if anyone here has experiences with the following types of internet access: Roadrunner cable, Earthlink cable, SBC Yahoo DSL. We're going to need a good, reliable service in n-e Ohio. Most important to us is real time web cam (for the kidlet's grandparents back home) and unlimited access for a set fee. We don't need 15 free email accounts, for example. If anybody has suggestions about the actual computer equipment I'm interested in that as well, but finding the best connection option is the priority for us now. Thanks y'all! Elaine |
Re: Internet access experiences with....
I know 4 people that have had SBC, they all now have cable. I thought Earthlink was DSL too. I prefer cable, its faster and more stable than DSL, it is usually a little more expencive though. Roadrunner is a great service, my wife used it for 2 years and had no problems. You don't really need any special equipment, the company will either sort you out with a free modem or an installment plan to buy one. If you want a new computer, look at Dell and get the most expensive one that fits your price range. Make sure that you add any extras you need like a disk drive, speakers and productivity software because Dell as a rule don't offer what they should as part of their systems.

Re: Internet access experiences with....
We have Roadrunner cable and our friends have Earthlink cable and they are both fine. There doesn't seem to be much difference except sometimes one of them might have a special offer like first 2 months free or free installation.

using SBC DSL with no problems - nice and fast. We don't have cable option but for light home use and some downloading it seems fine - fingers crossed!
