I have found a great removal firm that will move my possessions from the UK to the
USA, they will do all my packing shipping and unpacking. Payment is made in dollars
in the US, before the goods arrive.

let me know if you're interested.

Yep, grateful if you could tell me which company this is. Right now i'm still
shopping around for the best deal. Thank you.

I got a quote from Allied Pickfords here in the UK. Does anyone have any experience
of using them?

Kind regards

Graeme

G,

I have not used Allied Pickford, but they do not have a good reputation. On the other
hand, so long as you are fully insured, and prepared to do battle if there is a
problem, why not. Personally, I've had to claim on uncooperative movers before, and
it took about a year to get my money.

How much stuff are you moving? I found that delivrusa were competitive on the 20ft
container quote.

Ruth,

The guy came round and looked at all my stuff and I just got the quote in the mail
which says that it should not exceed 450 cubic feet. So I guess that puts somewhere
just under that figure.

I don't know whether this is typical but they pack it all up here and then deliver
and unpack it all in the US. Obviously including all their 'specialist' packaging
materials.

The aspect that I particularly liked is that they have offices in the US too. Meaning
that the US side of the operation is not subcontracted out to any third parties, and
any breakages are the responsibility of one company and we don't get into a 'pass the
buck' competition between different companies.

I had a look at the deliverusa web site and am thinking about getting them to give me
a quote too. At least at the moment, time is on my side.

Graeme

The not having to pack myself is what really sells it for me! They offer the full
service so that their backs are covered with the insurance.

The service is the same, and Mark Nash (delivrusa) will quote you on-line, and follow
it up with a visit just to make sure, so you will have something to compare it to.

Best Wishes

Ruth
