Default International Couriers versus Surface Mail

Does anyone have any experience with either of the above. Planning a move from Canada's west coast to UK & wondering about the few items (that I think I can't live without!) & that won't fit in the suitcases. ie heavy (ish) photo albums, pre digital cameras. I will experiment with scanning some of the photo's, that way they will end up in the memory stick, much simpler. As a senior I am still a bit nervous of these 'new fangled digital whatsits!' As it is, it was the technician who was checking my laptop recently who suggested the memory stick - now why didn't I think of that.

Surface mail should be fine if you're not in a hurry for your stuff. You could air mail it, which would be more expensive. I'm not sure what you mean by courier, but usually courier services are very expensive.

If you have a one-way ticket home you'll get extra baggage allowance. In any case, it might be worth looking at what it would cost you for excess baggage. It might be a way to do it.

If you don't mind whether you have print photos or not --how are you going to feel about throwing those albums in the garbage? -- scanning them should work, but it may take you a little while to get good at it, so it depends on how good you need the images to be. You could also burn them onto a CD/DVD as a way of keeping them.

Best,

Bev
