Default Insurance qualification in the US

I was just wondering where I would look to find out the qualifications required to work for an Insurance Brokerage in the USA. Does it vary state by state? I know that the laws for Employers Liability (Workers Comp) is different in New York but I was wondering for the future.....

It's generally regulated individually by states and requires examination and compulsory education. Won't be particularly difficult though -- budget a few weeks study to pass. PM Boiler if he doesn't see this thread -- I believe he's in the biz.
