Default Which Insurance Honours U.K. No Claim Bonus

Hi,

Does anyone know a car insurance in Texas that respects U.K. no claim bonus?

I have never found a US car insurance company that will honor UK no claims - but then I've never lived in TX.

There aren't any really and if they say they do, it's a sales pitch...

There should be companies that will give you the equivalent reduction as an introduction. UK companies will do it for US drivers and also other countries provided they can understand it i.e. it is written in English.

Find a decent broker! (Unfortunately I only deal with UK commercial Insurance)

They don't, they might give you a better rate for showing a clean license, which was easier to do with the paper license, but that's not the same benefit of a no claims.

Not really fair is it! I've matched US NCB for clients in past surely a decent broker could negotiate a similar deal? That is what they get paid for after all.

Didn't some people have some luck with that with AIG International (or something like that)? You might want to search old posts. We are with AIG Direct incidentally who seem to give the best deal for us more mature 'new drivers' with poor credit, a $200 saving just on 6 months over our Progressive policy.

I think there are 2 key factors that determines the cost of your insurance: driving record and credit rating. So even if you came over on a clean driving record, the fact that you wouldn't have a credit rating here would hurt you. But there could be companies that are exceptions to this, so the best advice is to shop around and get as many quotes as you can.

Lunacy Why would having a poor credit rating affect how likely you are to have an accident? Surely the car make/model and the drivers history/age/experience are what counts? I'm not having a go, but as a UK Insurance broker it seems really odd, as car insurance is primarily about assessing the likelyhood of you crashing and costing the company money and haing a good credit score isn't going to reduce the risk of a speed hungry kid wrapping his car around a lampost.

I'm really interested know how the US Insurance industry works, I know that makes me seem really boring but I have built a career out of it

You will have to learn a awful lot ..don't even try comparing it with the UK system .. I married my insurance agent so I would not have to deal with it ...

and of course every State has different ways of doing things ..

I am quickly learning that the only thing that IS the same as the UK is that everyone hates the government

I am curious about how to go about learning about the US Insurance markets because if there was a way of distance learning the system and gaining qualifications then in the future there would be nothing stopping me upping sticks and relocating over there
