"Instant" money transfer UK to USA
Hi
I've been using Xoom to get a near-instant transfer of funds from the US to the UK - typically 20 mins from my US bank to my UK bank.
I'm trying to find a similarly quick way of doing the reverse - UK to my US bank...
Any ideas/suggestions?
Cheers

Citibank have an in-house service but you need accounts with them at both ends.

If you have HSBC Premier with accounts in both countries, it is an instant transfer. Not sure how the rate compares though.

Do you have a debit card? I just go into the bank and ask for a cash advance in it happens there and then.

Thanks everybody for your suggestions.
I bank with CitiBank - the nearest branch location where I can pay in cash and have the immediately credit to my account, is in a different country - Mexico!!
I do have a UK debit card, so I can get some money out of an ATM in cash - fine so long as you don't want too much!
Lesson learned is... plan ahead!!
Cheers

We haven't used it yet but it's FSA covered, good web interface and fees seem reasonable.

I would recommend getting an account with Interactive Brokers. Their exchange rates are much better than with any bank, they pay decent interest rates, and up to USD 100,000 cash you are protected by SIPC.
