INS got RFE, now WTF?

The wonderful new INS case status web page had this to say today, about my I-129F application:
(You may remember that I got a RFE from the NSC on the 13th, because the photocopy of my divorce decree did not please them.)

"On September 26, 2002, we received your response to our request for evidence or information.
It is taking between 70 and 100 days for us to process this kind of case.
However, because preliminary processing was complete before we requested the additional material,
the remaining processing time for this stage of your case is approximately 100 days.
You will receive a written decision on this case."

WTF!! They have alread done "preliminary processing" and my reward is another 4 month wait ??
I'm not very smart, but I can only read this to mean that I will be waiting another 100 days for a decision! Why ?

Please, please please someone, tell me it isn't so! I'm dying here! (whine, whine, whine)(sorry you brits, winge, winge, winge)
Getting married isn't supposed to be this hard.

It isn't unless you invite INS to be your best man.

RFE's usually go back at the top of the pile so you don't lose the time already spent. HISTORICALLY. Only God knows what they do now.

As far as the message; take it with a grain of salt, like the message on your NOA1, the automated phone line, etc. Probably be approved when the freeze is over in a few weeks. IMHO.

Don, I hope and pray that you are right on this one.
It took me 15 years to decide to remarry and it seems like it's going to take another 15 to make it happen.

The quote they gave you is standardized. Look through google's archives and you will find that others who have received the same message were approved in under a month.

Hi:

Pleease remember that the language on the I-797 NOA's about timelines should be read with an allegorical exegisis rather than literally.

Thanks for the good advise Folinskyinla. If you force me to go to the
dictionary, however, I've got to point out that Websters has it as exegEsis. :-)

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement. I don't often go looking
for moral support, but this visa process and all the waiting has got me
looking for a crutch. Thanks to all who have reassured me.

Didn't please them in what way? Did they elaborate?

This happened to me with Vermont and I felt the same as you, but they approved
it in a matter of a few days after they got the information.

Same thing is happening to my K-1. I filed with TSC.

Has anybody gone through an RFE? What is the actual waiting that you experienced? When and where did you file?

We received an RFE from VSC on December 4th last year. We mailed out the
information on the 11th same month. Got the message that it could take 90 more
days I think. It was approved on January 3rd. This was for an I-212 waiver.
