I know folks in various parts of the country who contract as well, some are required to be S corp and have liability, others aren't. Liability is a must for some if they are dealing with hardware in case of loss or theft of dev kits and pre-launch hardware.

All ranging from working for small to massive companies and other third parties.

Nothing really to do with SV being looser or not.
