importing a car to usa
How hard is it to import a vehicle to the US from scotland? anyone brought there car with them?
I want a land rover defender so i looked around the state i live in and nationwide the average price for a 15-20year old landrover is in the $50-$60000 dollars  I can buy a used landrover in the uk for 3500 pounds or so and its only 2000 dollars for shipping, i think i would save some money even with some customs fees. I have looked at us customs web sites and cant figure it out any help would be appreciated If this doesn't work then maybe i will have to go home and do it from that end! |

Re: importing a car to usa
I knew a guy that imported a Land Rover in Atlanta. The vehicle cost $8000 and $3000 to ship it over. It was a two liter something or other LWB. It can be done. Look here:

It's a lot of hassle and probably not worth it...but there's a place in Maine that deals with imported defenders, cost a bit, and probably old buggers but there's loads of the sods out there...
