Default Immigration to the US from UK for finance

Hi all,

I hope to go into the finance / banking industry when I am older. I intend on either going to university in the US and then sticking on there, in jobs and things, OR going to university in the UK, staying on in a job here and then transferring there into a full time US job there a few years out of university.

Would US immigration policies stop this from happening? From what I have heard, getting a US Green card is almost impossible, but seeing as I come from the UK, with a clean criminal check and all that, maybe I have a higher chance?

Also, do they favour any specific professions?

Thanks!

Read this Pulaski's Ways: How to Live and Work in the USA : British Expat Wiki

You get no special treatment for coming from the UK.

A clean criminal check is pretty much a requirement for any application to immigrate with some exceptions for age at the time, type of crime, outcome, etc., so that is not always a big deal when you think about how many people are (or think they are) in your shoes.

The chances of it happening are so slim, you may as well buy a lottery ticket!

We see posts like yours all the time - at least three a week - and the answer is the same. Read the Wiki and come back with any further questions.
