Hi, Creg1!

The knowledgeable folk on this forum will need more information on your circumstances before they can help you.

What is drawing you to Detroit? A spouse? A job? A family member?

My wife grew up in south Detroit... but first, people are going to want to know the basis for your intended immigration. You can't just up sticks and move on your own - well, unless you're already a US citizen.

As far as I know, you can't immigrate to Michigan. You can, however, immigrate to the US and live in Michigan.

Provided you're a US citizen or hold the appropriate visa, that is, so which is it?

Winters here in MI usually are crappy... a generic answer to a generic question.

My Dad had a job offer in Detroit a very very long time ago, I would have been about 10, always wondered how things would have changed had we moved.

With all due respect to you and your ego, I am 99.9% certain that Detroit would still be a §4!t-hole today.

It wasn't then, but I doubt Detroit would have not changed, I would no doubt have acquired a Murican accent.

Girlfriend lives in Michigan. Looking to see what sort of visa is best. We know about the marriage visa but because of the area suffering from the auto industry is it even worth trying to find a job within said area. Taking into consideration that jobs have to go to US citizens first. Would be looking for a Managerial position in the logistical industry.

- To obtain work visa you need to find an employer to sponsor you. The employer has to petition for the visa for you.

- To marry, your girlfriend has to be able to sponsor you. Read the following to get started.
