Default Illinois drivers. Worst ever!

Why is it that every time I get cut up or stuck behind a car doing 30 in a 45 they have Illinois plates. Worst drivers ever!. I'll be glad when the snowbirds have flown back to their home retirement community. I actually saw a few weeks back, a driver with Illinois plates doing 40 plus through a 15mph school zone with a marked police speed camera van right by the road recording the nutter.

Try Mexico City! :scared: Makes Chicago seem like the school playground.

We have our fair share of snowbirds though not here -- on the Mexican border. But there's a huge RV park full of them that you can see from my grandparents' farm. (shakes head slowly) Have you ever been to a Luby's or cafeteria for a Sunday lunch? I've never seen more white (and grey, and blue) haired people in my life this far south.

We're not that bad.... although I did nearly run a Corvette off the road yesterday, it was so low I couldn't see it when I looked over my shoulder.

Miami drivers are the worst I've encountered, they've all taken the Lahore driving test.

Out of state offences generally trigger a fine, but no points. I don't plan to cross the country paying speeding fines, but in most cases* if I did they wouldn't hit my driving record.

* I think that there are a few bilateral treaties between states, and for some reason Ontario offences committed by New York drivers get reported to the New York DMV.

I live just off part of old route 66,you should try driving up or down that esp. in the summer when we get the 'nostalgic road tourists'!!!,esp. since the stretch we drive on was narrowed to one lane each way!!!,that's fun!!!!....Sophia

It seems Illinios drivers are bad no matter where they are. We visited Chicago twice in January, the first time we arrived at 3am freeways were pretty much empty except for the taxi's playing road rash, 2nd time we arrived at rush hour, trucks in outside lanes, trucks in "no truck" expressways, trucks everywhere and travelling at mach 1 too :scared: . It was the weekend of the second snowstorm and there were trucks out salting, not spreading as we know it ... back tailgate open and dumping the stuff in huge quantities all over the place and it hadnt even started snowing yet !!! We're really not sure why there are any speed restriction signs on the freeways as no one takes any notice. Hubbys verdict on our way home ....... Never doing that again !! Next time I guess we fly in

I'm sure this is the main cause of accidents in Chicago. I have to make a left turn into my place of work but it's a busy industrial estate, the lorries do about 60mph down this road; there's about one serious accident a month where the lorry hits a car waiting to turn left and the drivers excuse is "I thought he was going to turn before I got to him".

The highlight of any trip to the USA was my taxi rides from O'Hare to the rail station... after 9 hours on the plane and 2 hours in Immigration .... a 30 minute taxi ride was a welcome wake up call, a rollercoaster of danger with a manic non english speaking driver one hand on the wheel the other on the cell phone clamped to his ear.

Ok in rural central Illinois you have the farm traffic to slow things down, but most of the time I was driving, I found people sped along nicely.
