My favorite is "Echo" in Cincinnati, opened in 1945.
http://www.echo-hydepark.com/
This is probably my favorite:
Glier’s German Greats
2 eggs, goetta, potato cakes, baked apples & toast
though this is pretty funny ...
A Hot Mess
Layers of home fries, scrambled eggs, bacon & sausage, smothered in sausage gravy and cheese, with your choice of toast

Not in my case, I think there's one other than Denny's/IHOP locally, but OH lives in what he calls "the ghetto"(I was sceptical until one morning when the police were blocking off our street in pursuit of an attempted murderer...it was quite cool seeing our road on the news though!) where for some reason a lot of Mexican people live(the first time I left the house on my my own, I made eye contact with a girl in the street and she was yelling repeatedly on her mobile as I walked past, "There's a WHITE GIRL walking down my block!"), so most of the food places are Mexican or Asian(weird, as there are also a lot of Filipino people, but not many places sell Filipino food).

If you're ever in St. Louis and want real Diners I can talk about my favorite...
The Courtesy Drive in (The Original location on Kingshighway)
Order a "Slinger" which consists of two hamburgers topped with hashbrowns, two eggs over easy, chili, cheese and onions.
There is also the Eat Rite just south of downtown-
And the "Buttery" on South Grand Ave.
Review here: http://stldinerreview.blogspot.com/2...x-buttery.html
I've spent considerable time at each of these and while the Courtesy is my favorite, you really can't go wrong at any of the three.
Now I'm hungry.

I don't mind IHOP. Never had their 'cakes but do like their crepes. Friend insists on going there for dinner because of the 'senior' discount.
Love Denny's for breakfast. We don't have one in lower Westchester County and in fact, don't think we have one in any of Westchester County or Putnam or Rockland Counties either.
DH and I go to the one outside of Ottawa when he still lived there. Was the one place in 1998 that allowed those of us who were without heat, lights or hot water a warm lite place to linger (if you were lucky enough to get there that is) after the infamous Ice Storm of 1998.

Grocery shopping is equally painful as I study the different levels of quiltieness in the loo roll section and then do mathematical equations to work out whether 16 jumbo rolls are better value than 48 big rolls or whether I should buy mega rolls but forego Ultra Strong in favour of Ultra Soft.
Decisions decisions...

Love that idea - I suffer from a terrible affliction where I must read every item on the menu before making my careful selection - if my selection is then not available I have to re-read while hubby shakes his head and mumbles something about having no back-up plan.

Sounds like our shopping styles would get on well together!

We have a good one that is in Jackson. For years I thought it was called Melon fays No idea what that meant. Then I went to eat there and discovered it's Mel and Fayes
It used to be a run down shack looking building then the city moved them so they could put in new traffic lights. Pretty tasty too if you like a Moo burger.
A new one opened a few minutes from us, and so far we have enjoyed the food, better than dennys or IHOP anyday Eddies grill
Edited my spelling
