If you have XM Radio and enjoy comedy ...
... tune into Channel 148, the much lauded FIFA World Cup Channel. Their stellar American-only lineup of 'soccer announcers' knows collectively nothing about the game as far as I can tell, and the whole channel seems to be based on talk-show format.
Yesterday a painful three hours was devoted to explaining the game to Americans. This morning, a caller with an English accent called in and said it was shame some people couldn't play in the Cup, such as Ryan Giggs. "Oh boy", said the announcer, "and how about George Best? I would love to see him play."

I have Sirius and get Premier league commentary through the year, but was a bit pissed off when I heard they'd lost the World Cup rights to XM. Now, hearing this, I'm not so unhappy...

Thanks for that....we have XM radio in the house.
I was listening to the radio this morning and one of the radio announcers was saying to his 'morning crew' that the World Cup soccer is truly a game where so many countries come to a stop when an important game is on and how different it is to the 'World Series' baseball where it's primarily an American game only. He then asked his 'crew' which country they would support.....one girl piped up...."oh, Spain....because David Beckham plays for Madrid"...!!!!!!

Hahahahahha What'a bunch of retards!
It's so sad that the majority of Americans are so ignorant of anything that isn't predominately "American".
Pretty much most of my old friends knew of American sports. Baseball, Hockey, Football etc and had a idea of how they were played. My mates here are pathetic. They have no idea what Cricket, Netball, Rugby etc are, let alone how to play it. Even worse, they don't even care
Such a closed up country.
