A quick click on a few usernames and a trolling back through a few old posts, suggests that most of the people in this thread have whined about any number of things to do with the USA in the past.

There's a difference between posting about stuff that irritates you and saying you hate the country and the natives.

It isn't perfect here and I will always celebrate my British side but it's time to explore my new home, to see what may be out there for me.

There way a guy on BE several years ago that hated everything about California including his employers and the people he worked with and said the only reason he worked in the Silicon Valley is that the pay was great. He said he couldn't wait to return to Zimbabwe as soon as it was the same as it was before.

That's brilliant!
I used to work in Alum Rock, who could resist such a paradise of wonders!
(Used to get off the 26 bus at corner of Highfield Rd and Alum Rock Rd and walk to the BT place about half a mile away on Hancock Rd. Just fleshing out some nostalgic imagery for you.)

Re: If you could live anywhere in the world....
There are a few places in the UK that I would love to end up living in, mostly the pretty village type places that haven't yet been spoilt. No idea if the places in my mind still exist? I know we could never afford to retire to any of them unless we won the lottery.
If we won the lottery, we would probably want to do something crazy, like buy a yacht and sail around the World very slowly!

If I could live anywhere in the world, I would live anywhere in the world. I.e. I wouldn't live in one place.
Everywhere has downsides, the only way to avoid them is to not stay put, but then you have the disadvantage of not being in one place.
Personally I think Canada is the best place to live in the world, or at least certain bits of it, but the winter is the downside.
