If I were an American ..

Re: If I were an American ..
Funny how all the 'nice' people on BE show their true colors if there's a potential payout involved.
The pharmacist made a mistake, to sit there calculating the various options for personal gain is a bit sickening to be quite honest.
I'm sure he/she has a family and made an honest mistake which led to no harm, I'm sure the person could lose their job if lawyers and the media were involved.
Shame on everyone with the $$$$ signs in their eyes on this thread :curse:

You sound like I don't usually take a rational and common sense approach to most things

That's exactly how I feel. I'm sure the shock of making the mistake made him more aware. I would hate for someone to lose their job at Christmas over an honest mistake.

Funny it seemed to me that you might've been seeing something derogatory to you, and I assured you it wasn't. That doesn't seem like shit stirring to me.

Since we don't know all the facts we don't know whether license revokation/dismissal would be the appropriate punishment. If the pharmacist was seriously negligent, or if this is the latest in a series of errors, then serious punishment is in order. On the other hand, I've worn that white coat, and even the Great and Powerful Moi reached for the wrong bottle a couple of times. Lookalike/soundalike drug names are a very common source of confusion. I always double-checked by matching the Rx with the bottle after I was finished, and was able to catch the mistake myself. And yes, it's a shock to realize that you've done something dumb. I double-checked other pharmacists and techs and caught a few errors that way. It's important that Mandana's incident is investigated and all the facts determined.

I forgot to put salt in the potatoes last night! Good God, what if I lost my job as chief cook and bottle washer over it?

I guess I'm a beleiver in karma. You should expect and fully understand your arse being nailed to the floor for any mistakes you make in life and at work

Well after my initial 'nicey nicey' on the phone, it then sunk in just how serious that could have been.
What if I'd just thought 'oh, the pills have changed' .. or not thought at all and taken them?
I know I didn't, and I don't necessarily want to get the bloke into trouble, but at the same time, this could have been really serious.
WWYD?
