Default I used to believe

Yesterday our local radio station was asking people to phone in with things they were told by their parents when they were kids that they believed then realized were total BS as they got older. There were some real funny ones as well as ones that I remember hearing as a child. One woman phoned in and said her dad told her that if you didn't fart you would go bang.

I was a real bad nail biter and to get me to stop my mother told me that if I continued the skin would grow over the end of my fingers and they would look like drumsticks.

My husband's grandmother told him that if you play around with your belly button your legs would fall off. lololol

I am sure we have all been told something as a kid which was a load of bull. There is a website www.iusedtobelieve.com that has lists of these ranging from stories about food, bad habits, people and sex. A good fun site and you can add your own.

Bizarre. A radio station here in Oz had the same idea a couple of days ago. Do-do-do-do, do-do-do-do, do-do-do-do

My favourite was "If you play with it, it will fall off".

I was told that if I put my lost tooth under my pillow a fairy would put some money there. Always worked for me.

Mine would tell me that if I didn't brush my teeth every night, an evil character called "Jenny Green Teeth" would come when we were sleeping, chip away at our teeth and make them green.
Worked like a treat for me and my brother.

We kind of drop her in it when we stop him and buy one for our kids though....

A lot of the mums seem to have a problem with the N word.....my mother in law used to babysit for a lady who had a 20month old....one day the mum heard my MIL telling the baby No (calmly but firmly) when she tried to stick a pencil in an uncovered electric socket. The mum threw a wobbler and told her never to say No to her child... How the hell is the kid going to learn whats acceptable and whats not if its never told....?

And some of the whining, wheedling, pleading and begging you hear from the moms at the playground when they're trying to persuade their little darlings its time to go home...its pathetic. Ours get a 5/2/1 minute warning then its in the car. We rarely have a problem but if we do, I give them walking directions to get home and you should see how quick they jump in

I must admit, it generally makes me chuckle when she tries it - especially when I've already promised ours we'll get one.....

If the kids aren't introduced to the "N" word early in life, the parents will pay dearly...

Using the "N" word is a whole lot easier than having to spank the child (probably the next stage if the N word is not obeyed).

My wife was taught at school that henry ford invented the car

i found out this ignorance recently after I commented on a stupid tv advert which talked about americans inventing stuff, the car namely being one such thing. apparently
