I left my heart...blah blah blah
Hi, I'm a first-time poster looking for either advice or a reality check! Basically, I would love to move to San Francisco (from the UK).
I'm 24, single, working in a low-level editing job at an educational publishers. I live in rented accommodation and don't own property. I currently have no savings, but should be able to budget a couple of hundred pounds a month.
I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on how I might go about this. I'd like to stay in non-fiction publishing, but know this might not possible. How much should I be trying to save? I looked on craigslist at flat shares, and a lot of them need credit checks - is this a huge problem for someone new to the country?
Any comments would be appreciated - apart from soul-destroying, dream-crushing ones!

Getting into the US is incredibly difficult. Don't even start to worry about housing or rent--deal with the visa issue first.
Take a look here and let us know if you think you can pull one of these off.

Forget craigslist. You need eharmony or match.com.

Marry a US citizen of the opposite sex or forget it as, realistically, it ain't gonna happen.

if they have US offices, work there longer, get into a position where they can transfer you to the US on a L1....otherwise, find a bird your willing to marry.
