I absolutely refuse to eat...

Re: I absolutely refuse to eat...
OMG, some of you are excluding some fantastic & healthy foods!! Kick away fast food or imitation/American cheese, but not swiss chard, eggplant & clam chowder! (I admit okra can be hard to take, depending on how you cook it, but fried well or in a nice gumbo it can be luscious!)
Only thing that makes me truly gag is the green leaves of coriander, or called cilantro here in the US. Not the seeds or root, just those green leaves make me want to heave. But because so many good dishes both back in England & here in the US utilize this foul leaf, I've been trying to get used to it slowly. I pick a few leaves off, then eat the dish. Not sure it's working, we'll see....

Philly cheese steaks must have whizz
Nathans hot dogs at coney island
Gumbo in new orleans
Biscuits and gravy with grits and friend chicken any where in the south
Chowders oh my.
These are national dishes that really are America and its people. It's like going to the UK and saying fish and chips, pasties and hotpots are a bit rubbish.

Re: I absolutely refuse to eat...
My coworkers were amazed to learn there is an actual place called Cheddar...
And that if New Jersey is called NEW then there must have been an OLD one... and that it turns out to be an island!
I have to say I'm really not impressed with the idea that most food here in Phoenix should be 'mexican' and that means covering up culinary disasters with a bucket load of Habenero Sauce (proof that nuclear fusion is not the only source of 10 million degree heat!!!)...

American cheese as in cheese whiz or anything where the contents say Cheese food product. What the hell does than mean anyway?
Swiss Chard, Cilantro, Collard greens, Celery raw, Cockles and mussels (eww) Pretty much any shellfish. Clam chowder, Okra, any of those combo veggies and fruits that someone invented. grapples?

Before the mung bean decided I was not allowed to eat anything more exciting than broth and apple sauce, I would not eat Okra I can't do fuzzy stuff in my mouth. Orange American cheese both horrifies and fascinates me. My thoughts on Hersheys have been well documented (regurgitated margarine anyone?) but mostly I'll try almost anything. Unless it's over cooked shellfish that looks like alien genitalia
Just remembered Uni. Can't eat that either it's so squishy and alien feeling in your mouth
