I know I've seen this information before, but I can't seem to find it now, and what I'm reading from the INS isn't as crystal clear as I want it to be.

We have our AOS interview next week, and want to use my income along with my wife's to meet the 125% guideline. My wife makes a little less than the 125%, and I make a little more than it. So together we make more than enough. But is the I-864 the only form we need? From reading the I-864A it doesn't sound like that's needed, but the I-864 doesn't seem to care much about MY income, except in one spot. But is that sufficient?

Also, the previous two years she didn't make enough to meet the guidelines, but this year we exceed it by a lot. I would think that that would be sufficient proof to the INS that we can support our family, but will it be?

You do not need the I-864A, you are correct in thinking that. As long as you have
lived in the same household for 6 months and you filed taxes together it should be
cool. The interviewer could deny you for not meeting the guidelines for the last 2
years, HOWEVER in most cases including mine it will be approved.

Ok, but what if we haven't had the chance to file taxes together? I moved here on May 1st and our interview is January 16. I've been here over 7 months, but the timing is such that we won't have filed together yet. Do you think that makes any difference?

We do have her parents as joint sponsors if necessary, but we'd really want to avoid needing that if at all possible.

I married in April and filed my AOS with a co-sponsor. At my interview in November I
presented a new I-864 using my wages. I had lived in the same household for more
than 6 months but we had not filed taxes together. It was accepted and the
interviewer gave me my co-sponsors documentation back. I guess it depends on how the
interviewer is.
