Hi,
I intend to file a peition I-130 (immigrant peition for a relative)at the NSC.
So my question is: do I have to send an affidavit of support form I-864 to the INS for my relative, or it is not necessary?
Thanks.

It is required. I don't believe the form would be part fo the I-130 process if it
were not necessary.

Read the paperwork!!!! Read the INSTRUCTIONS!!!! There are 5 things to send with the
I-130...I believe there is a checklist at the bottom of one of the pages. Please do
not quote me on this but the following are required...
1) The I-130 petition itself
2) 2 G-325's...1 for you and 1 for her complete with pictures and signatures
3) Copy of Authenticated Marriage Cert
4) Certified copy of divorce decree if Applicable
5) Your certified birth certificate
* A check for $110/ that makes 6 items
Double check to make sure but I think thats all on the first go round. Mail it in Fed
Ex or some type of priority mail where you can track it and verify its delivery. Best
Wishes and good luck...you'll need it!

It is not necessary. The I-864 is filed with the I-485 if adjustment of status is
chosen, and the I-864 is sent to the NVC (when NVC requests it) if consular immigrant
visa processing is chosen.
Nowhere on the I-130 instructions is there a mention of Form I-864.
