I-130 approved, can we wait to file AOS?
I've been trying to find information thru the net and from the Customer Service # for the INS, and I'm still needing some answers as to what to do at this point.
I'm here in Indiana on a K3 visa and my I-130 was approved on Aug. 28th.
Stubborn, independant me, would like to be working before applying for AOS, will this become a problem with the INS if I wait till around Feb/03 to apply?? I have a receipt date of Aug. 13th for my EAD. Hopefully I'll have it before Christmas and can start working soon. Without the EAD is there any possible way of applying for my SS#??
I will be adjusting status from Indy and not going to Montreal for the interview.
Any direction or suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.
Good luck to everyone awaiting approvals. It's a long haul, however well worth the wait.

Although you are expected to file within a reasonable time, except for the
fact that your K-3 status / visa will expire in two years there really isn't
any need to do so. You can certainly wait for the EAD before filing. If I
remember rightly there is actually nothing to prevent you getting the EAD
from MSC after you file for AOS when adjusting from a K-3.
