I-130 approval from NSC
Hi everyone,
I can't believe it, our I-130 peition has been approved @ NSC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here's our timeline so far:
Married: Feb 9, 2002
Sent I-130 to NSC: March 9,2002
Ist NOA date: March 21, 2002
2nd NOA (automated phone message): Sept 6, 2002
Good luck to all !!!

We filed at the Nebraska Service Center, because we're living in Canada right now.
The consular processing is a bit different when you're in Canada, you send your petition to the Nebraska Service Center (as opposed to the Consulate, like you would do in any other country). Then NSC processes it, and sends it to the National Visa Center in Portsmouth,New Hampshire. Then I think they coordinate with the Consulate in Montreal and we go to the Montreal Cconsulate for the interview. But it is different because the US COnsulate only handles the interview part. I think in other countries, when you do direct consular filing, you deal only with the Consulate from the beginning, and not one of the INS Service Centers.
Direct consular filing is considered to be quicker that adjusting status within the US.
