I-129F processing times
 

In reference to the current Texas service center processing times found on many websites:

http://www.immigration.com/processing-times/tx.html

http://www.usvisanews.com/pro-texas.html

http://www.visapro.com/Texas-Service-Center.asp

Does the date here reflect the date these applications are approved or the dates they start processing? My particular case is an I-129-F. Does this date mean that on September 1, they start processing applications recieved by August 7 or they have finished processing (and hopefully approved) applications recieved by August 7.

Jay, I wondered about that also as I'm not a lawyer. From what I have learned,
the dates posted are dates of adjurdication (spelling), another words, the date
the application was processed or finished. Someone else here will be much better

The exact wording is "Date based on pending initial adjudication"....don't exactly know what that means....

In any case, TSC is moving very quickly, by all accounts (they took a month for our case, received 6/11/02 and approved 7/11/02, and may be even faster than that now). My guess is that the date listed is the date of applications that they're currently reviewing and hopefully approving.

Did you do it on your own or did you have a lawyer do it?

Oh, definitely by ourselves. I'm a graduate student, and he's currently a temp, so we've not got the money for a lawyer. Added to that is the fact that we've got a fairly straightforward case, and it's just a matter of keeping organized and gathering all the info. While some folks can afford a lawyer and are reassured by that, I think that the vast majority of folks here are doing things themselves, and for the most part they're not having problems. Any problems they might have had are generally issues they would have had with or without a lawyer.

It certainly *can* be done--just stay organized about it. AND, just to reassure you, my fiance just got his visa at his interview yesterday, so clearly something was done right! :)

Although, just so I'm not lawyer-bashing, some people really do feel more comfortable with a lawyer. If that's you, by all means go for it--just don't feel obligated to do so.
