Hypothetical Q about access to Medicare

Re: Hypothetical Q about access to Medicare
Hi, but its not free is it? Part B needs to be paid for (currently around 99 bucks a month), then there is Part D for prescriptions and if you don't want to pay for deductibles then you take out an Advantage plan or a Medigap plan.
My husband's costs (because Part D is also income related so he pays more than the 99 bucks a month) are currently running at over 400 a month with his Medigap plan/Part D - only about 20% less than his private individual policy was.

Part B is it compulsory, the way I've read it it isn't, but yes if you take it $99 a month. If he is paying more than $99, well for people filing jointly your annual income has to be over $170,000 before you pay more than $99.
The rest is up to you if you pay for it or not. But Providence Oregon have several plans the most expensive of which is with Rx at $155 a month.
My private insurance premium will go up to $686 from October 1st, so medicare will save me $432 a month. Thanks I'll take that.

Take the first digit off of that amount and you are in my ballpark and still the premium $109.

It certainly looks like Part B is $99 to a single person earning $85,000 or if you file jointly a couple earning $170,000.

Part B is compulsory if you want Medicare cover for doctor visits etc. Part A covers mainly hospital services.
