International Launch Services (ILS) successfully launched the DIRECTV 10 satellite today using an enhanced version of Russia's premier vehicle, the Proton.

The Proton Breeze M rocket lifted off at 7:16 a.m. today local time (9:16 p.m. Friday EDT, 01:16 today GMT) from the Cosmodrome's Pad 39. The mission lasted 9 hours and 8 minutes, before the Breeze M upper stage placed the DIRECTV 10 satellite into a geosynchronous transfer orbit. After about two months of in-orbit testing, the satellite will move to its operating position of 102.8 degrees West longitude to enhance DIRECTV's high-definition services across the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii.

Comcast just keep piling on the HD channels and HD on-demand movies. It's more the content it seems at the moment being broadcast. Fox pisses me off as it's HD but MOSTLY 4:3 with BLACK BARS at the sides.

the more HD the merrier for me. It looks way cool.

I get a few HD channels through my digital cable, but being HD is no good if they cram them all into limited bandwidth - look at the grass on a sports event for example (a green blur). If you can get an off air HD signal compare it to what the cable/satellite sends you and you'll see what I mean.

We have Direct TV ...... it's f**kin crap :frown:
I am actually thinking of returning to Time warner :p

The picture breaks up for no reason, if there is a slight storm cloud 10 miles away we loose every channel........ AND .. every weeks or so we have to re-programe all 4 of our boxes.
The bill is supposed to be a standard payment but varies by $100 sometimes and they give us no explanation.... it stand to reason if you have the same package set for the contract the monthly payment should be the same :frown:

You can buy some rain shield spray that will improve your reception in big storms.

I use it in my Ku 1meter and it works pretty good.
