Oh that's horrible

This has to be the one!

Was paying £450 pcm for a room in Harringay (and not a good one). Now we pay $800 for a duplex within walking distance of the University of Iowa.

$ 1,000 monthly for a 4 bed 2 bath 1400 sq. ft. Would pay more except the owner does not like to raise rent on existing tenants. 8 years and counting.

Oh how I wish I had your landlord! We're paying $1700 for a supposed 3 bed here & people around us say that's a nice low rent. Soo I'm expecting the landlord to raise it once the current 6-mo. lease finishes up. We are so kicking ourselves for not signing a year-long lease contract due to our certainty that we'd find a house to buy right away.

BTW, we paid £1400 pcm for around the same sized house in Cambs, PLUS a whopping council tax, so I guess we're saving some money here . . . .

Just spoke to the letting agent, the house won't be available to view until May 15th when the current tenants leave. I've offered to sign for it unseen, and with a move in date of May 19th. I must be crazy

It sounds like it's all going to hinge on whether the owner will allow our dog now. Feel quite sick

Have you at least seen the outside?

Really hope it all works out this time

Not yet, I'll have a drive by later today.

I also know someone who lives on the complex, don't think her house is the same design, but I've sent her an email to see if I can be cheeky and go have a nosey around her house.

Oh that's a really good idea.

I don't like the sound of you feeling sick all the time.

I can't wait to feel 'normal' again. I don't normally get stressed out by things, but this is really getting to me.

Totally understandable, we all need the stability of a home!

Tell me about it, our last place, landlord wanted to increase the rent by $300 a month after the first year, which was why we moved to our current place

This place, the lease says that the rent will not increase by more than $20 a month for a year at the end of the lease when it roles into a monthly lease

Had a nosey around my friends house, which is smaller than the one I've applied for and it's nice, we could certainly make it work. Also had a drive to the actual house and nosey around the outside and it looks ok. Trying not to get my hopes up now

I will keep my fingers crossed for you, it sounds so stressful! I am dreading looking for another house to rent....I keep looking but cannot find anything that we can afford My husband earns a decent amount, but I am not allowed to work, we have 3 kids at school....and the company health insurance has just gone up by about $150 a month
