Default How much money does your city waste?

At public expense, the residents of my city all got one of these:

http://www.bryantx.gov/departments/?name=water

You don't need to be a customer, anyone can get one.

Thank goodness...no city to worry about. Nor water company- our wekk and septic do fine- and have not had to spend a penny on either in 4 years. Would be nice to have garbage pick up though (have to pay private co. $30/mo)

Country Livin'!!!

That's not much more than I have to pay in our suburban town for garbage pick up. Oh, and since I have a sewer connection, I have to pay $30/mo for that!

$248 per year for $145,000 property valuation. Alabama, or at least our county has very very low property tax ($1.71 tax per $1000)

My city is being investigated by the DoJ for serious accounting errors during the sewer and water rollout they did here a couple of years back. Allegedly, out of a $100M project about $40M is "missing". the contractor on the project? Kellogg Brown and Root. The same Haliburton subsidiary who got told off for allegedly ripping off the Govt.in Iraq

My guess is that the city will get a fine.. paid for by? You guessed it, the taxpayer!

Me too...oh the price we pay for living in the (relatively) cultured NE

Our town does nothing other than run a school system and maintain the roads - we too have to pay for our own rubbish collection (which was acually a mob operation).

Mind you, we did get a water quality leaflet, but it came from the water company - no public money involved.

And to think...all that wasted money could have been given to the great great great grandkids of the slaves.

True- and they could raise my ridiculously low taxes by a thousand $$ a year and I could help pay too.
