Hey guys, I have two large bags to take with me so I think I will have to catch a cab from LA Airport to Santa Monica....can anyone tell me how much it is round about ? That would be awesome...thanks guys....

Where in SM? The blue shuttle might be around $10-15.

yes your best bet is to take either prime shuttle or the super shuttle the red or blue ones respectively. I normally use prime because they were a tiny bit cheaper but there's not much in it really
you will probably pay $10-15. It can take a while if they have to circle LAX (usually twice) to pick up passengers, though santa monica is probably a popular destination. If you dont mind taking a little longer this is the best way to go.

Wow, you got seriously ripped off. I've taken a taxi numerous times from LAX to SM after returning from business trips, never paid more than $30

I usually always ask how much before getting in the cab. Shit.......... PM me and I'll pick him up myself with the company car and free gas for $50

Around $30 odd depending on who you go with. A lot of drivers are out there to make a quick buck or two so find out a fixed price before happily jumping into a cab. Where are you staying???? if it is a hotel/hostel then ask them as they may have a cheap deal set up with the cab firm themselves. Shuttles are cheaper also depending on the amount of passengers in the shuttle and it can take a loooong time also. happy hunting!!!!

I have done that trip in a cab for $30 negotiating it as a fixed price ahead of the trip. I usually give the driver about $5 for two bags. I have found that I prefer SuperShuttle for airport shuttle service and they do allow large bags; you need to call them ahead for a reservation. SuperShuttle is always on time and there are always a lot of them in the airport so you can get one quickly.

my trip was just from the lot and on the meter.. i didnt negotiate or anything. It was funny because it was my first time in LA and one of the first in america. The guy asked for the address.. i told him.. xxx maple st santa monica. He asked me how to get there. I said how the hell should I know i dont live here! I said I thought it was somewhere near the beach and he handed me the thomas guide map. To be fair to him looking at the map I could see how difficult it would be given that there are hundreds of different maple streets and i didnt know the cross street. Still it was weird after being used to london cabbies.
I have heard that cabbies here though often rig their meters so maybe that was my problem. There was quite a bit of traffic too at the time. Now I am older and wiser though and always do the shuttle bus
