How many American friends do you have?
Just wondering how many the non-Americans on this forum have, and whether there were any differences in making and keeping them.

I'm the only Brit i know here
I have friends that are US American, Canadian, Brazilian, French, Korean, Spanish, German, Italian, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, and German. It's a nice mixed group (maybe 10% American)
We all have our individual faults (well, they do anyway).
The Americans probably put the most effort in to group stuff, which i really appreciate, especially since I'm a bit crap at that... on the whole the people in Cincinnati tend to be nicer to me than places i've been before.

Sallyanne, I see you're in the land of fruits, nuts and all things plastic
I would think it is harder to make native friends out there than elsewhere in the country, for that reason alone, but it can be done.
The vast majority of my friends are American. I can count on my one hand the number of non-Americans that we're friendly with.
We're fortunate in that we have made quite a number of real buddies; but, it has taken us knowing them for YEARS to get to the same level of friendship that used to take us months back home.
One of the reasons that it is so hard to get with them, is that they're into their immediate families, and since most don't have much spare time, tend to want to spend whatever they have with them, to the exclusion of everyone else.
Hang in there There are some wonderful people out there

3 in nearly 20 years. People just seem to come and go in LA. I do have more friends from other countries, mostly Hispanics and English.
Find Hispanics to be down to earth, sorry to say I find white people in California to be generally nice to your face but phoney, back-stabbing, materialistic and fake. I am generalising of course.
