How to distinguish between a permanent or conditional green card?
I don't know if my Green Card is permanent or conditional. I did get married to US Citizen in June 1996 and recevied my green card in October 2000. There is a date on GC Resident since 07/10/2000, expires 05/28/2012. Is this permanent green card or conditional? I did not filed I-751 to remove conditional status? Do I loose my green card if we get divorce now?

A condition permanent resident has a green card which expires in two years. A permanent resident has a green card which expires in ten years.
When adjusting based on marriage to a USC, if the AOS interview is conducted and approved AFTER the second wedding anniversary you were admitted as a PR and if BEFORE the second wedding anniversary you were admitted as a CPR. You would not lose you green card regardless whether you were a PR or CPR. A CPR is eligible to remove conditions asa the divorce is final. They need to prove the marriage was entered into in good faith. |
