Never fails to amuse me the augments for not taking the vaccine. Very entertaining thread but scary at the same time.

I have just had a similar discussion via email with a dear friend in the UK who I have known since was 19 when we were at art school together. She is a medical illustrator and apparently that makes her an expert on why the vaccines are very dangerous and not be taken.



OK, she can draw a wonderfully intricate illustration of a head but her science knowledge is minimal.
As I pointed out to her she lives alone, goes out infrequently (she does wear mask fortunately), works from home and for 64, is very healthy whereas we live in a multi generational family unit and we don't have the luxury of fully shielding from this virus. Lucky her, she has the choice and she has decided to take that risk despite all the evidence that vaccine works. We are so happy that vaccines for kids has been approved (including the 9 yr old) as with the boosters, we can now start getting life back to normal. Its been hard on us but for the 9 yr old, she has effectively lost 18 months of valuable childhood time.

My expert friend didn't even know that at 65, the flu shot dose is increased by 4X the number of antigens but then not surprisingly, she has never had the flu shot.

Unfortunately, there is no convincing these people now or ever, that this vaccine will be safe and I assume, every other vaccination from now on will have the same reaction from them. I just hope that something like Ebola doesn't evolve to be more effective in its spread because then the human race is definitely in danger.

I rather suspect that antivaxers would be more willing to take a vaccine if the disease was significantly more lethal.

Just for a point of reference, my stepdaughter is a Canadian citizen by birth now living in the US as a LPR. She attempted to enter her country of birth on the 15th and was turned away at the drive-thru border because she did NOT have a valid COVID test result showing she was negative. She thought as a citizen that she would be able to enter her own country, she was not. Went back to Connecticut, took the test, waited for the results and tried it again and this time she was allowed to enter to visit with her daughters in NS.

If Canada will not allow its own citizens in without a test and showing they have had the vaccines, then why should my country allow you and your family in with any of you having had the vaccine and having the results of a valid test.

Didn't bother to read all the thread, but please don't come here if you aren't vaccinated. Hospitals are busy enough as it is. You definitely don't want to be paying US medical bills if you do get really sick. A severe Covid situation could bankrupt you easily if you don't have great health insurance. In addition, many major cities, starting with LA and New York are now mandating vaccines to pretty much do anything. Many countries mandate all kinds of vaccines, USA mandating a Covid vaccine is no different. My wife has severe allergies, highly immunocompromised so ironically we were in a situation of having to be VERY VERY cautious about the vaccine. The first shot was not great for her but after a few days she had no issues. The second shot did result in a trip to ER as she had an anaphylatic reaction as we had anticipated. The benefits still greatly outweighed the disadvantages though and I am happy to report that despite all that she is just fine. Unless you have numerous doctors telling you not to get the vaccine get the damn shot. My wife had 3 out of 4 Drs. telling her NOT to get the vaccine at the beginning. A year later 3 out of those 4 said she MUST get the vaccine. They had seen so many patients die, some in their offices they were utterly traumatised.
