Obviously you'll need to call the airline to get an exact quote but it costs a lot less than you would think. The price is determined by the size of crate, weight of your pet and distance travelled etc... Specialist pet shipping companies do offer a great service but they definately know what to charge!! For us it was a relatively stress-free experience and beloved pooch arrived safe and sound.

In 2003 we paid 2K for 3 cats and a dog. Only other thing I would add is to check for restrictions that airlines place on animals that have to transit an airport with respect to the time of year. IIRC most airlines won't accept animals in crates between May-Sept if they have to change planes due to the high temperatures that may exist on the ramp.

did this myself 3 years ago & then it was:
rabies vaccine no less than 30 days before arrival & health certificate from the vet within 7 days of flying. we flew BA & they quoted us about 700 pounds to fly the dog & cat on the same flight as us; but when we checked in they said as we had so little luggage that they would fly within our allowance. so total charge for the flight for them both was 0.00!

on top of that outstanding amount we had to get 2 crates but there was no handling charge on arrival..........

Hi

We moved our dog from the uk to florida, costs about $3,000 for the trip, it was about three years ago now but he flew from Gatwick to orlando. We arranged this with the kennels he was staying at in Kent.

Let me know of you need more info.
