FERA will do it for personal use as well as business as long as it's for a small number of plants. The guy comes round to your house, inspects the plants and gives you a certificate. Only cost £25 as well and the people from Fera have been incredibly helpful
Wow thats amazing, because you cannot bring plants in to Florida, from outside the STATE. They inspect all the moving trucks & UHauls etc.

That's great news!
This link should be helpful:
https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/det...plant-products

Scroll down to: "propogative plant material....."
There's also a link on the right for emailing any questions ahead of time.
Also - If I were you and just in case you're greeted by a grumpy dope of a customs official - I'd print out some of what it says on that site in order to show US customs that there ARE circumstances under which they DO allow plants to enter.
Have a Happy New Life!

PS: Here's an additional link...you'll be able to learn more re: the specific state and airport thru which you (and your precious "booty") will be entering:
https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/det...plant-products

Same for Maine, especially for boats, they're really serious about plants on boats.

Have as much information as possible as you will be dealing with a mix of Customs, USDA and State regulations. If they initially refuse the entry be as patient and polite as possible not easy after a long flight.

Flew into Logan and the Customs people had never seen anyone so well prepared and with such great FIDO certification

Sadly though because they had little experience of this they didnt really have a clue what to do and were searching through websites to find out

Upshot was that they allowed 5 of our 8 plants through straight away

The 3 cactii we had they were not sure about and thought they had to be checked to see if they were on a rare species list and if we wanted them checked then they would have to be sent to NY where there is a plant specialist. We're finding out how much it costs, if it's not outrageous we'll do it otherwise they'll be destroyed

But it shows it can be done

You take more trouble over your houseplants than some people do over their children.

Well, houseplants need the nurturing.. Children are like weeds and usually thrive and grow to be six foot two whenever you turn your back on them..

Great, well done, you'll do really well over this side of the pond. You need to have a degree in research, paperwork and patience. Great job. Enjoy your life here.
