Default Hotel in Las Vegas

Hi all

We are planning our honeymoon for the end of July to Las Vegas and the best prices have availability at 3 hotels, The Flamingo, New York New York, and Bally's. If you have gone there which hotel would you recommend?

Would welcome any comments.

Thanks
G

Avoid the Excalibur. It's the pits.

We stayed at the Barbary Coast. It's clean, cheap and location cannot be beaten. We had no complaints.

Hiya

We have stayed at the Flamingo 3 times, the most recent being at the beginning of May.
Its an excellent location, at the centre of the strip, so walking distance to all the other great casinos, hotels and shops.
The rooms are huge - even the regular rooms - and it has 3 fantastic pool areas.
The casino area is great, and all the staff are really friendly and helpful, even if you only bet 2 dollars a go!!!
I would definitely recommend it

In case it helps, Ballys is virtually next door to The Flamingo, and New York New York is about 15 mins walk up the strip. But, i have not ventured into either of those. MGM is fantastic though!!!

We stayed at The Luxor for our wedding/honeymoon combo. It's a bit of a tried old hotel and needs a revamp but I cleaned up at the casino so I love it!

Hubby who is a Vegas connoisseur recommends Bally's out the three. But then what does he know! Ger yer arse down to the boat this weekend and ask him.

Stayed at the Flamingo once and would not go back. It is central to the strip, but I found the room we had to be very old fashioned with worn out furniture. Now Caesars Palace is another thing, had a gorgeous room there with marble jaccuzi in the room, very nice.

We stayed at the New Frontier for our Honeymoon (wedding was at The Little White Wedding Chapel).

Room service was great (awesome food) and the room had its own lounge and kitchen area. The bedroom was separate. I think it was only $50.00 per night for us (there was a deal going on at Hotels.com).

If you choose this one, get an Atrium Suite. We did and it was fantastic.

Watch out though, there is a charge for electricity :scared: . Not sure if this is for all hotels in Vegas, but we booked our rooms for $50.00 per night and then there was a $2.00 charge per day for electricity (peanuts I know but be aware). Check the details carefully so you know what you have to pay.

Little secret, there is a great Love Boutique in walking distance behind the hotel. Great for a honeymoon

We stayed at the Monte Carlo and had the most fantastic view of the strip at night. Very large and clean too. Room service was also outstanding.

I've been to both NY, NY and Bally's. I give Bally's the edge.
Last month, a client booked me into the Imperial Palace. What a dump--smelly, dank and nasty. I personally want to push the plunger when they implode that place.

I'd personally stay at Bally's. It doesnt have the themed resort style like the NYNY, but it is a very classy hotel with recent renovations and in a great location. NYNY rooms are a nice size and the hotel itself is very nice. If you do go with the NYNY, ask for a room high up so as not to hear the rollercoaster that circles around the hotel. The noise isnt that bad in the lower floored rooms, but it might be something you want to avoid. The Flamingo is a very nice hotel in a great location not that far from Bally's. It to has had some recent renovations, one of those being Jimmy Buffets Margeritaville on the front, which is a bar and restaurant. The one negative view of the Flamingo though, is that while they have a great pool, it's well known in Vegas for being one of the few strip properties not to check keys for access to the pool. I know, because I've done it . This may have changed recently?. but if it hasnt, it does lead to a very crowded pool area.

So my order would be..
1. Ballys
2. Flamingo
3. NYNY
You cannot really go wrong with any of those 3 though.

Also, try this Vegas trick for a room upgrade. Its better known as the $20 dollar trick. When you go to check in, have your credit card out, but roll a $20 dollar bill up so it just about covers the card, but make sure the person checking you in can still see that its a $20. Then tell them that you are on your honeymoon and you were wondering if there were any upgrades avalible. 9 times out of 10, they will take your $20 and upgrade you to a room with a strip view, or maybe even a small suite or deluxe room. We've done it with good success in the past.
