All of those organizations produce widely read and very influential content and don't make any money from it or are at least not professionally run.

Little Green Footballs, for example, broke the story that the documents CBS News used to question Bush's military record (I'm not getting into this one) were forgeries. The story basically got Dan Rather fired.

Matt Drudge (owner of The Dudge Report) has literally millions of readers, it's one of the heaviest tracked news sites online. Reference to his site show in major publications all the time.

Also, commentators from the Heritage Foundation and Hoover Institution (both of which are entirely non-profit) show up in major newspapers, on NPR, in the NY Times and WSJ etc every day.
