Yeah, I tried that angle, but it didn't work. Maybe I should get the kids to be especially annoying.

Today would've been a trip to Hever Castle btw.

Neither can I. I guess I'm lucky because I've never been truly dependent on my husband (though I came pretty close during those H4 years; that status should be abolished forthwith...). But I simply couldn't stomach this. Though I guess it's easy for me to say - always had my own $$$...

I don't want to make Lady feel bad, but this whole scenario raises some interesting power-balance issues within marriage...

I haven't worked for over 21 years so I am not financially independant. I am very lucky my husband is very easy going and as long as I'm happy, he's happy. He knows that I would never take advantage and abuse his kind nature.

Damn. I wish my OH would take a trip alone. The house to myself for a few weeks? Especially with the world cup coming up? Pure bliss!

It must be very difficult for you living with someone who is so selfish and domineering. It's easy for me to say I wouldn't stand for it...but I know its not that easy especially when you have children. I was in a relationship years ago and he told me I would just have to put up with his behaviour.....'cos he had me where he wanted me. Wrong....cue for me to pack up and leave....luckily there were no children involved.

I consider myself lucky. I love going home to visit and my husband and daughter love going as well. My friends hubbies have become great friends with my hubbie and their children are the same age as my daughter so it works out perfect. I also love showing my husband my country and where I grew up and he gets to see things he would have never seen had he not married me!!
