Hobbies?
So what do you do with your spare time and money? Did you continue the same hobby once you moved across the pond or pick up new ones? Are there hobbies that are uniquely American or British?

Yep - spending a fortune on air fares back to the ROH:scared:
I have never heard of anyone doing "scrapbooking" as a hobby in Britain...

Re: Hobbies?
The wife wants us to take up scuba diving; I think that would be good here in FL.
I've taken my motorbike test, just haven't bought a motorbike yet...
I enjoy shooting here because there's so many more (and thus different types of) people doing it.

Re: Hobbies?
I'm anticvipating a hobby change when I go across. Currently, I do martial arts, sword fighting and caving, but in the area of MS I am moving to, I can't find anyone that could continue to teach me the martial arts I do, or the sword fighting, and there is a distinct lack of caves.
I'll take up hunting/shooting, that seems to be the big southern thing, oh and watching cable.

Re: Hobbies?
I think scrapbooking is a fine hobby.
For a six year old girl.
Please allow me to "profile" a typical scrapbooking fan (according to my experience) Stay at home mother in her mid thirties, extremely devoted to her children, drives a minivan, wears sweatshirts with characters from "Winnie the Pooh" on them.
I guess I shouldn't make fun, it's just not my thing.

Re: Hobbies?
In the UK I used to make all my own clothes(because anything I liked in the stores were either the wrong colour,or too long or short,or I didn't like the fabric they were made of.....not to mention the cost!),over here I just about live in jeans,or trousers and t-shirts, or sweaters(not sweatshirts!),so don't make my own clothes anymore.....but I have discovered quilt making, which I'd never heard of in the UK(I've made 4 wallhangings so far)and discovered oil pastels/painting,which I haven't done since school, many, many moons ago,I just cannot drag myself out of my local Michaels Craft store,I just love the creativity, and yes,I have got lots of scrapbooking stuff, but haven't got round to really getting started with it!...but one day I will!!..........Sophia

Re: Hobbies?
I have lots of hobbies: some I've done my whole life and others only during certain times of my life.
In England, I took up horse riding. I lived in a small village in South Warks and had friends there with horses and not enough time to exercise all of them! Lucky me!
When I lived in the Virgin Islands (many eons ago), I sailed and scuba dived. As much as I love those activities, I've not done either in years.
I've always enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing and DIY. Hubs and I do a lot of the gardening and DIY stuff together here and when we lived in England.
Since being back in the US, I've tried my hand at quilting and have carried on with sewing. In particular, I love making period fashion/costumes and Halloween costumes. I'm even considering the possibility of selling fashion and costumes for extra cash now that I'm back at home full time.

Still keep up orchestral music and playing - I didn't realise the US musical terminology was different! Other that that, not many cricket grounds in Southern Arizona
