ITV News had said it was cos the powers that be wouldn't licence Windsor Castle to be an approved marriage location, so that the couple will be married at the local town hall instead -- a much less dignified place. ITV News were even so kind as to give us viewers a tour of the premises and indeed, with folding chairs and plastic flowers, it didn't seem like a place the Queen would want to throw a party.

This is what happens when one has to choose between one's love and one's job. Happens to far less famous people every day. At any rate, if Prince Charles is a lavish fun-lover, I wonder why he does not do as his great-uncle before him and become Duke of Windsor instead of married-at-Windsor. Or would his mum cut off his allowance?

I am very distantly related to Princess Diana and therefore also her sons, so I have strong opinions on the matter, but I try to bite my tongue hard because I am not a British subject.
