I have a good friend also ex WG. He tried to emigrate to the US with no luck whatsoever.
In the end his family moved to Canada without too much hassle.
He lives just over the border so is often in the US.
He retrained from the WG as a HGV driver, that's what he now does. Roams N American in an 18 wheeler.
In fact this week he's down in Florida delivering Christmas trees.
