I am not complaining.
I'm sorry but for me it's too bloody hot there most of the year and anyway I would miss the rain might be hard to understand that one I know.

I thought we weren't trying to scare of newbies

Ah it will take a lot more than that to scare me off.

guess it depends where and how the op lived in the uk.... vegas does nothing for me, ok for a few days of fun but that's it.

btw hiya ukgirl and a warm welcome to BE

Thank you, there is a lot more to Vegas than casinos and shows. I only go to casinos when me Brit relatives and friends come to visit. It really is no different than any other town in the USA.

Well I'm glad about that Elvira and a few others were wondering why not many newbies stay around so hopefully you'll stay
I'm glad you've had a positive experience living here and like it here.
I'm with Britvic though I do like the rain and the seasons and would miss that, although I know I am so in the minority!

Sorry, didn't mean to sound unwelcoming, but I was just dumbfounded....... Las Vegas vs UK? No contest.

But then I'm from Putney

No worries Elvira.

Yes they are very different and don't get me wrong, I just love to go to the UK. In fact I am going this year and can't wait to show my 9 year old around.
So do some of you still live in the UK?

So just by the last 3 replies, I take it you don't like it here and would prefer to go back to the UK.
I don't know how long you have been here, but it was like that for me for the first 5 years or so, I was so homesick, but now this is home.

You'll find a lot of people don't like it here which is why they belong to a BE forum to have people understand what they are going through ( I suppose ).
On the other side there are a lot of people that like living here as well (I am one of them).
A good mixture of people here which is good

5 years is such a long time to put your self through so much pain we made our choice to start to make plans to go back after the 3 year mark, home for me in October would of done my 5 years by then.

i'm not homesick as such, i can and do go home whenever just 9hrs non stop from houston. the ugly usa city skylines, the lack of architecture etc etc does nothing for me here infact leaves me cold.. plus one has to travel hrs to get out of the country to go visit another...give me the UK and it's proximity to europe anyday
